Be My Guide

$80.00
Sold Out

This archival, hand-sewn album/scrapbook is made from Mohawk Superfine American- made, archival paper, sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that dates back to the ancient Copts.  This allows the book to lay open easily to any page.

This book’s endbands are brown and yellow cotton, and its bookmark is yellow satin ribbon.  The book is half-leathered in brown, and its boards are wrapped in paper that was marbled at il Papiro in Florence, Italy.

Treasure binding began with monks in the 6th Century who would encrust volumes with jewels. During the Renaissance, there was a resurgence in treasure binding. This is a contemporary revival of the treasure binding in which a lucky charm has been embedded in the cover of this book.

The talisman in this book is a vintage Saint Christopher medal. Saint Christopher was reputedly 7’7” tall.  He is believed to protect wayward travelers, presumably from overhead luggage that has shifted in flight.

This book is roughly 6 x 9” with more than 150 blank pages.
