This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
This book is decorated on recto, featuring vintage cuts that were printed on our 1882 Golding Pearl #1 printing press.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Jemma Lewis in Whiltshire, England. The book is half-clothed in Dubletta book cloth from the Netherlands.
The talisman in this book is an 1822 French Minister of Commerce medal. It reads on verso: “Ministère du Commerce et du Industrie LOI du 27 Julliet 1822.”
