Jaipur Jem

$70.00
Sold Out

This archival, hand-sewn album/scrapbook is made from Mohawk Superfine American-made, archival paper, sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that dates back to the ancient Copts.  This allows the book to lay open easily to any page.

This book’s endbands are red and yellow cotton, and its bookmark is orange satin ribbon.  Its spine is covered in dark green Dubletta cloth from the Netherlands, and its boards are wrapped with “Jaipur Jem” paper designed by Matthew Williamson from Paper Tree in London, England.

Treasure binding began with monks in the 6th Century who would encrust volumes with jewels. During the Renaissance, there was a resurgence in treasure binding. This is a contemporary revival of the treasure binding in which a lucky charm has been embedded in the cover of this book.

The talisman in this book is an enameled inclusive pride flag. Carry this book proudly and write in it with passion.

This book is roughly 6 x 9” with more than 150 blank pages.
