Moon Walker
This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Katherine Brett at Payhembury Paper in Migdale, Sutherland, Scotland. The book is half-leathered with Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.
The talisman in this book is a 1969 souvenir of the Apollo 11 space walk. Its obverse reads: “The American Eagle Lands. 7.20.69 Footprints forever change the moon and horizons of mankind.”
